Overview
White Fused Alumina (WFA) is produced by fusing high-purity Bayer-process alumina in an electric arc furnace at temperatures above 2,000 °C. The resulting ingot is crushed, sized, and magnetically separated to yield angular, sharp-edged grains with an Al₂O₃ content of 99.5 % or higher.
Thanks to its outstanding hardness (9 Mohs), chemical inertness, and friability, WFA is the preferred abrasive for applications that demand surface cleanliness, dimensional precision, and zero contamination — including aerospace component finishing, optical glass lapping, and high-performance refractory linings.
